Morning started with a 6:00am meet up some of us, a little earlier for others. For my group of drivers we met at a gas station in Lathrop. We then headed up towards Lockeford for our breakfast meet up point where we also hoped to drop into a local butcher shop and get some awesome steaks and sausages.

Breakfast was great but the butcher shop didn't open until 10:00am so we elected to stop at a local grocery store to buy some grub for the bbq that evening.

We then met everyone else at the park and ride off highway 50 in Placerville.

After the typical hello's and a lot of vehicle show and tell, we headed off to the trail head. (On the trail, I didn't have a chance to take to many pictures since I was driving... but when we did stop, I took pics.)

Of course even after we got to the trail head we still had to stop and continue to talk tech (mitsu 4x4 shop stuff) including modifications, upgrades, repairs, etc.

After a short amount of trail time, we happened upon a very nice clearing which had obviously been previously used as an outdoor range.

Again, we stopped and shot the breeze before continuing on.

After a bit of exploring, we came upon a fallen tree that was clearly quite rotted out and dead.

I've added a couple of animated gifs below of the removal.

Afterwards we decided to head back to the 'range' area and do some shooting...

We quickly set up a number of targets both near and far...

Of course, I insisted on safety being the cardinal rule in the handling of the guns and everyone was only too willing to agree.

All who shot were also responsible for loading their own guns. Here's Russ helping 2 of the ladies with the loading of their magazines...

Me shooting a 9mm...

Russ shooting one of the revolvers... (.357 or was it the .38?)

And here are some of the results...

A few animated gifs...
On the shooting ones, I was lucking enough to occasionally catch the flash and even caught the 'blur' of the bullet exiting the barrel.
