Number 3 I LOCKED THE RADIO!

I’m looking of some good instructions on how to unlock the code on my Radio. I have found a couple of web site and threads that have a little less info than needed or all together contradict each other. I have the code and just need to know how to put it in. Also would this be a good time to take the 6 disk out? I don’t need it and would like to free up the space for a HAM.

thanks

This is for a Disco1....
It should take less then 10 sec not 2 hrs.

Let start at the begining, You dis-connected the battery and now after hooking it up, the radio display reads "code". Take the code #s and press the "pre-set" buttons that match. The radio should come alive with all of your pre-sets still there.

If the code is not working, I see three things that could be wrong.
1. You do not have the correct code.
2. One of your buttons are not working, and stop the radio from getting the correct code entered.
3. You do not have power to the radio, It should say "code"

Just to follw up on Ron's post...

When I type in my "code", I think a "#" or "*" appears on the screen as I press the buttons. Should confirm that the buttons are working at least.

Granted, mine's a primitive '94, you YMMV.

You only let it sit and reset IF you entered the code wrong the first time. My '94 RRC was that way. If I entered the code wrong I had to wait till later to enter it again.

Do you really need to have the car on during that time? Or can you just come back in and hour or two.

I just did it this morning. I replaced the battery, put the key in, turned it, I could hear the CD changer cycling. "CODE" appeared on the screen. Typed in the code and the CD started playing. That is all it took. Make sure you depress each number button all the way. Good luck.
