Thanks for the feedback gents- I could have spent a week there. As to accessibilty, Kristian, we were a bit dissapointed that there were some sections- especially in the first part of Mandan (?sp) road that had electric and gas provisions being set up. Mandan was well graded, but the section after the turn-off, about 4 miles in, was essentially the same. There were two beaver ponds that I remember from last year that have been "culverted"- except there are a lot more rocks now so it was fun to see the trailer jiggle through that section. The logging company was out in force to the east end of the penn. I think the have some sort of lease arrangement. O/w no other traffic out on our end, likely due to the rain.
Good times!

Thanks- I really enjoyed your pictorial too :).
Short answer- Nikon and Aperture.

I'm a complete novice actually, and don't have a "system" down quite yet for post processing. I mainly go with what looks right. I try and adjust curves- very cautiously at this time. I'm reading a lot though, and there is no shortage of inspiration out there and on this site.
I use a Nikon D90 or D40x with either a sigma 150mm or the awesome (and cheap!) Nikon 50mm. If traveling or paddling I have a Nikon 18-200mm, but prefer the prime lenses for landscape stuff.

I am trying to learn/getting my feed wet (just the tippy-toes) with multiple exposures, auto bracketing, etc on some of my images-again, I don't consider myself an expert, but in this area, one person I have tried to learn from is Nepalese-American photographer Mahesh Thapa. Check out his stuff at www.starvingphotographer.com. Simply stunning.
LostCanadian on this site turned me on to hand held grads. I like his work a lot.

Thanks guys- I wish I could have joined the hardy team of overlanders that traversed the entire length of the Keweenaw this year. It's a great area for sure.
