Hi everyone,
I noticed that the tent trailer I built was posted on here by someone so I just want to share exactly what I did with it. I posted it on craigs not needing to sell it as I do enjoy it very much... Been used 4 times now! The offers and peoples expectations were a bit nuts so I ended up pulling it off.... I actually built it specifically for an 8 day bow hunt I go on in GA and needed to save gas for the 14 hr drive Lol.
Anyway the only original items on this trailer are the Tent... Trailer Frame... And Camper hardware.
The box is new 3/4 and 1/4 inch plywood screwed together... for one inch walls and the floor is new 3/4 tonge and groove. Encapsulateed in 3 gallons of roll on bedliner material so the wood does not see water again.
Material List/Rough Cost:
Wood = $300+
Bedliner = $300+
3500lb Axle springs and hangers welded professionaly $400+
Set of Jeep wheels $75+
30" Used tires great shape $125
sandblasting for frame $125
Rustolium paint and primer $65
Kreg Jig/Pocket screws $75
Aluminum Angle for Trim $125
Light Kit $35
Misc Stuff $100+
Oh Yeah $500 for the original camper and I am sure I am forgeting something!
Roughly material alone was $2225 and I spent about 40+ hrs working on it but that part was fun....
If anyone were to be interested I have a ton of build photos... The "tent" trailer has 2 beds and a fold up table inside thats it! The only thing this trailer needs to be 100% off road worthy is one of the fully oscilating hitches... I personally will only be taking on very rough and rutty dirt roads but I did go a bit overboard on how sturdy it is Lol....
So when people were comparing it to a used 5-700 dollar campers I just kept it to enjoy. One person offered $750 and another $350 and One person was so rude and nasty in an email that it reminded me of how little respect some have for others in this world...
I hope you don't mind me posting this info and hope all have a blessed week!
