Off the ground tent flatform

I just want to throw an idea out to the Expo members here. I am thinking of a raise flatform to put a tent (8'x8') on top of it. I know there are option out there such as:
RTT, tent cot, AT trailer with RTT, Popup trailer, etc...

RTT - too small
Tent cot - too small
AT and popup trailer - too expensive

I want a flatform that can open and close easy to keep the tent off the ground about 6". The purpose of it to keep dust and sand out of the tent. I need to place a 6 person tent (8'x8') because I always camp with my kids and I packed load of "craps" with me on camping trip. I would like to keep the cost under $500.

Thank you for your inputs.

Another way to consider keeping out sand, dirt, etc is to select a tent with a good vestibule or closed in awning. Use a piece of outdoor carpet at the doorway. Have done this for years and it works pretty well (after you train the kids to keep their shoes out of the tent. ;) )

Sierra Designs Bedouin is one (buy on year-end closeouts), the Oztent another.

If anyone has direct experience using a platform, I would be interested in hear the pros/cons with the approach.

Wow. I didn't know such thing exist. It seem like lots of installation and too big to packup for a camping trip. It's exactly what I am looking for but easy to setup and remove. We are on the right track here. Thank you.

I understand a platform for keeping the bottom of tent clean and providing a smooth level surface but I don't see it keeping dirt out of the tent. I agree with go4 that a vestibule is the way to go.

the tent platform is real slick. and combined with a vestibule as noted by others you would have a nice clean, organized setup. I would only consider something like this if i were going to be in a camp for several days as it would add considerable bulk and time to setting/breaking camp. . . that's part of the reason we now go out with our aliner ease. . . 3 minutes and we've got camp.

hmmnnn, What about buying hinges from a RTT and a couple ladders and making a foldout platform from 2 sheets of plywood?

I like OZTent but I already invested in a sportz tent.

I also like BlackPine Deluxe Turbo tent too.

What are the differences between the two?
