Older Quigley/Pathfinder conversions- transmissions?

Anyone know what Quigley did for transmissions in their van conversions? Did they swap in 4x4 transmissions, convert them to a 4x4 trans by changing the main shaft and tail housing, or did they use the stock 2WD transmission with an adapter? That's what I've been told they did. And I have a pathfinder with a C6 NP205. I didn't consider this 'adapter' was anything that wasn't OEM Ford, but it looks after market. Assuming this is needed to make up for longer 2wd transmission. Is it really this simple? It just came to my attention because someone told me his Quadravan uses a 2WD E4OD.
