OME 895E rear coil question

Hey All,

I've searched and read a lot of stuff on OME coils on this forum but I wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

My question is: How do 895e's compare in stiffness to stock coils? Online they say they are for stock to medium loads but I have nothing to reference that against.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

not sure about the 895e's per say but the 895's for my 4th gen 4runner are quoted at 130lbs payload over stock. dont know if that helps. they are stiff untill you put stuff in the back. but really not bad if you are used to driving a truck

Java, how much lift did the 895's add? The e's are only supposed to add 1".

Here is my logic as flawed as it may be.

The Revtek leveling kit has been perfect up until now. I have added weight with an AT birch drawer and relocating my Engel to the back of the Runner. That alone sits fine.

However, when I clamp on the Chaser, it sits about an inch lower in the back.

My hope was that the e's would have a slightly higher load rating over stock plus adding 1" would negate the sag and not compromise the ride that much.

well loaded the ride is GREAT. when i fill the back of my runner with camping stuff its like a caddy. unloaded is rougher.

i didnt measure before and after, but it was more than an inch, but i have 895's not 895e's so there may be a differance there.

take a look at this, he has 895's in the rear also and it looks liek its about 3"

coils are pretty cheap and easy to swap out if you dont like them too.

According to the OME Coil Spec sheet, the OME895E's are rated at 260 lbs where the OE is 190, but of course this is referring to the Prado 120.

Wil, stock 4th Gen coils are 180 lbs/in. They woyuld give 2" rear lift on stock vehicle. As soon as you start equip the vehicle with options, then none of the manufactures numbers will work as they all compare to stock weight and height. You just have to do the math and try your calculations with practical experience.
I have ~500-600 lbs of additional weight on the rear of my truck and my OME 896 with 2" drop seat give me 4" lift

P.S. Wil would know that I got a new coils from him with theretical numbers. Will see how practice would be different... Sometimes you just have to guess and give it a try.

Here is a copy for rear coils for 4th Gen 4Runner I've posted on another forum:
