OME lift clunk

Ive had the lift on for some time and just now this issue is started to bother the heck out of me. While driving in rough terrain there is a loud clunk from what I believe is the front shock reaching full extension. In other words, there appears to be a lack of rebound damping in these shocks coupled with no extension/ full droop bump stop. Is this a function of the OME design? Do other manufacturers account for this resulting in a smoother performance. ICON, FOX, KING?

Are you running OME 886 springs? If so, yes, that's common and annoying to many. Yet still people believe that the OME shocks are the best 'match' for OME 886 springs. I haven't yet heard of that problem with any other OME springs...which is why I assumed 886's. There are a few folks out there running the 886 springs on Bilstein 5100 shocks and they seem to be happy with the performance (no topping out)...and no shock failures that I can find. All of this is related to 2nd Gen Tacomas. I've been researching lifts quite a bit recently.

can anyone with icon ICON, FOX, KING shocks confirm that they are not experiencing something similar?

I had it with the 886s and still have it with the 885s on my 2005 tacoma...do you have stock UCAs

I have Icons. There is a clunk from the left front. I feel it on my left foot and HATE it. Nothing is broken though. I'm hoping it will go away when I put in my new balljoints.

Icons have an internal bumpstop. They turn it down on the lathe for the extra inch of "extended travel" when using UCAs

Jack it up and grab the tire. Give a good shake. Does it move?

Some sort of lost...
Steering rack mount bushings? Internal bushings in the rack?
A lot of ifs rigs with agressive tie rod angles develope play on the outer ends of the rack from the extra leverage, I don't know if its common with the Toyotas but I would be looking there as well. Assuming there is no obvious contact with controls arms or ball joints binding etc.

I'm not sure if this is the case as it starting making this sound immediately after installing the lift.

Mine, I believe, comes from both sides but mostly the passenger side. I have inspected the joints and wheel bearing on multiple occasions via the grab and shake method with no evidence of any issue. Every once and a while making a wide arcing left hand turn at speed, say an on ramp for example, will result in a vibration on that front passenger side. Classic wheel bearing symptom but it is so intermittent that I haven't gone ahead and replaced it. Any body think this could be part of the issue?
