OME Nitrocharger Sport Shocks with TerraFlex

Does anyone have any input whether the OME Nitrocharger Sport Shocks will work with the TerraFlex 3" lift system?

Looking for input on what shocks to use on my JK. I will be getting the TF 3" lift kit but it doesn't look like the shocks included with the kit would be sufficient for when we are fully loaded for a few days.

I'm thinking either the EMU or the Bilstein 5100s would be my two best options with out going to the remote reservoir systems.

The EMU (I think you mean OME) Nitrocharger Sport Shocks are going to be to short for the Tera Flex 3" kit. You will want to run shocks that are for a
4-6" lift kit. Tera Flex kits run big. If you want OME shocks you will need the N196L and N198L. I ran these shocks with the OME springs and it rode on the soft side for my liking. I now run Bilstein that are tuned for my AEV springs. You should always run springs and shocks that are tuned to each other.
Tera Flex sells shock they have tuned for there spring.

Also about running the jeep fully loaded for a few days, you should really look into a kit with progressive spring. This will prevent sagging and bottoming out.

Here is so good info to think about.

Did you already by the Tera Flex kit?

Thanks for the insight. I haven't purchased anything yet. Still in the research phase. There are so many options for lift combinations, I'm going nutz!:Wow1: BTW, the link you provided did not go anywhere.

I've run both the OME and the Teraflex shock that comes with their kits, didn't notice a ton of difference between the two.

I am running the OME HD kit (coils and shocks) on my 4 door, and couldn't be happier. The HD kit yielded about 3", even with a bumper/winch combo up front and a bumper/tire carrier in the rear. I have had the Jeep loaded up for camping, and the on/off highway ride was great.

Old Emu suspension

What bumpers do you run front and rear? I run the same "heavy-duty" springs but still utilize the stock bumpers. On occasion, while pulling my off-road trailer, I get the "death wabble" after driving over pot-hole or bad crack in the highway. Never happens on a dirt road though.

I know I'll either have to invest in some bumpers or purchase some longer lower control arms...or both.

Ever had this issue?

Up front is an ARB Bull Bar with a Warn M8000 and synthetic line. On the rear is a Poly Performance bumper/tire carrier...I am running 285/70-17 BFG All Terrains as my tire.

I ran the lift with the stock arms for a couple months, and did not experience any DW. I eventually installed adj front lower control arms to address a slight flighty feel to my steering.

As far as your DW...here are a few things you can check:

1) Insure your Track Bar bolts are tightened to 125ft lbs of torque
2) Insure all your front suspension components are tightened to spec...in addition to the track bar, check your control arms, sway bar links, etc.
3) Check the condition of your track bar mounts. If you have experienced DW, your axle side, and even your frame side mount may have been compromised. I installed a JKS front track bar brace on the axle side mount, and a Poly Performance brace for the frame side mount to sterngthen the stock mounts.
4) Check your ball joints.

Hope this helps.

:sombrero:Consider the RS9000XL (adj) shocks-they op from the stiff side of mild, to very stiff-

I have them on my JKU and I keep them on "5" for normal (?) use and go to "9" for towing, outstandig shocks, they aren't "tuned" to any springs, you change them for your particular situation !!

Call Dave at Northridge4x4, pretty much all he deals with are JK's. I had the same dilema when I was looking for shocks and new springs. I ended up going with the Teraflex spring leveling kit (net about 2" lift" and a set of their VSS shocks. I've only had them on for less than a month now but I have to say the Jeep's on road manners are 100% better. I haven't had a chance rreally to test it out offroad yet but they do handle the washboards very well.

I have a buddy who runs the TeraFlex 3" kit w/ OME long travel shocks (non sport) and he is very happy with it. Personally, I also run OME springs and long travel shocks with a mix of Full Traction and TeraFlex arms and adjustable track bars.

As far as springs and shocks, I would not personally go with anything other than Old Man Emu unless I really needed more height, which it doesn't sound like you do.

Note that the part numbers for the long travel shocks are N196L and N198L respectively. The regular length shocks will limit your flex with that kit. I don't know how long the "Sport" shocks are, but it's worth investigating.

FWIW I run the "extra heavy duty" springs in the back, and the "heavy duty" springs in the front, and I've been very happy with the off-road ride under load as well as the ride on the street when lightly loaded.

Good luck w/ your build, sounds like you're on the right track :smiley_drive:
