I wanted to give a shout out to Extreme Outback and their air compressors.
I have their ExtremeAire High Output 12 Volt Compressor in Robinson Fuso. I noticed that, after 10 years bumping around North and South America, the compressor seemed to have trouble building pressure sometimes (but not always).
Turns out that Extreme Outback has live, US-based tech support and still sells spare parts for 10+ year old products. I talked with their George Carousos on the phone, he walked me through some troubleshooting, and we figured out what I needed to get everything working again (it was a $15 part). George explained that the majority of their customers are either military or construction - who both use their product a lot harder than us casual overlanders and have very high equipment availability expectations (along with good tech support.)
I see plenty of discussion of onboard air products and there are good options out there, but Extreme Outback sells a 100% duty cycle product to customers that are much more demanding than we are, and you can call them on the phone if you have problems. I'm always delighted when I can repair instead of replace.
