Opinions on the ARB X-jack??

It looks like it would be a pretty good (and physically easy) method of jacking a vehicle up.
It also looks like it would be a lot easier in poor ground conditions -- mud, sand etc. -- compared to using a hi-lift or other variants of the same design.

I can't see it weighing very much, but it might take up a decent amount of volume of space, and maybe need more care in storing it vs. a hi-lift. Just based on the fact I personally wouldn't want to leave it in the sun and have it be damaged by either UV rays and low-lying tree branches etc.

Anyone use one? Buy one? Get a good deal on one?

They are extremely practical for their intended uses, those you've described ie sand, snow, mud, uneven terrain.

They store flat (~4" tall) so they really don't take up too much room and could be stored under a big back seat, behind a seat in a Jeep or a roof rack for example. The case is heavy duty, I wouldn't worry about UV or trees getting through the case in the event it was on a roof rack. I just strap mine down in my trailer or the bed of my truck, its been through a couple years of rain/snow/mud. We used it the first "real" time on Impossible Hill in the Needles District of Canyonlands. 4-5 hrs from pavement and a broken axle shaft on a sloped hill. Bottle jack and hilift could get us the lift we need but not in a safe, sturdy manner. The X-Jack sold itself to many that day ;)

I love mine and Sierra Expeditions can hook you up with one.
I recommend one to eveyone that comes through Disabled Explorers as it makes lifting the rig by anyone with a mobility issue a breeze.
Just watch it near hot exhaust pipes and such.
Great tool and I always have mine ready to run off the air compressor since I am not a fan of the tailpipe.

Hi Lance,

It's bizarre to me, but i still don't check the Dis. Expl. section as much as i should. :shaking head:
I had previously read about air-powered jacks that can be installed on the frame of a pickup to lift the whole vehicle, but they were pricey. I thought "eventually" that would be a good option for me and would be super fast and a lot easier for me than trying to get position under the vehicle etc. with my only good arm. lol

The x-jack or a variant is definitely on my list of equipment to be getting in the future. ;)
