Ok so a couple questions.

Which axle did you go with?
What is the weight with the new axle set-up?

I am planning on a Dexter 3500# with 10" brakes with the parking brake feature. I am also making my own tongue set-up since I sold the original tongue surge break set-up along with the axle. I have been told that switching the axles will drop the weight by 200+ lbs. I agree it will probably be to big for the trails but I am planning on using mine as a base camp trailer.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been focusing on my truck. Ended up adding an ARB Bullbar, winch, snorkel, rear swingate tube bumper, new heavier coils on the front, all pro expo springs on the rear, ham radio for comm.

I decided to let the trailer ride how it is. Removed the drum brake but kept the axle. May come back around to it thjs summer.

What axle did you get?

I went with the Dexter 3500# with electric brakes, parking brake option, 3" tube but should have gone with the 2 3/8" standard axle tube size with the matching 6 lug. The parking brake option added almost $100 to cost of the axle. I will be working with my fab guy Monday on the tongue and ubolt brackets so hope to get it on its wheels next week. 64" wms to wms with 43.25" spring perch centers.

Update? Also wondering how the bedliner is holding up. I'm thinking of using the same Rustoleum on a project of mine.

So far so good, very durable. Some nicks but simply just sprayed a patch in large exposed areas.

One tip, make sure to use the spray can version not the mop-down paint version. Something about the spray texture came out way better.
