Ill post Pic of how the packing goes. Man it will be nice to have a roof rack or a trailer!

Are you asking advice on WHAT to bring? or HOW to bring it? In the equipment forums there is a sticky with gear lists. If its how to pack, heavy and little used items on bottom, lighter and/or frequently accessed items on top, fold seat forward and tether.

Or take the rear seat out if you don't use/need it. I took mine out.
Having it folded forward makes it hard to access stuff in the rear from the driver's seat, like if I wanted to grab a snack or botle of water out of the cooler, etc.

I think removing the rear seat was the first thing I did to mine. Immensely increases to cargo room.

Wow... Two goldens and gear in a SWB JK??? That's gonna be tight. Get yourself a basket rack, the'll free up space. I'd also run a toughy drawer with a carpeted deck in the back for the dogs...

Cheers

I'm not sure how much Gear you have. With my "1" 75Lbs lab i couldn't fit more then a sleeping bag an backpack of clothes. Dogs need a lot of room, and big dogs need even more. I suggest a Basket that slides in the hitch. They sell them at pep-boys. I also suggest a small utility trailer over a rack. Just my .02.

Well we I talked and now I think were going to leave the puppy with Sara's Mom that will make it a lot easyer. Im going to jst a cargo rack too.

You need a "shelf" in the back. Gear goes below, dog goes on top. This should solve your problem, I'd think. Kilby makes one for the TJ that could be used as inspiration for a one-off fabrication project, or you could build a shelf on top of a Tuffy box or on top of a wooden or metal frame.

I've been meaning to make one for my TJ for years, and will probably finally do so this year - two pugs and a golden + camping gear and a wife...no way to take the whole family out in the Jeep otherwise. When traveling without another human, I can fit the golden and one pug on the passenger seat (yeah, you read that right) and they're surprisingly happy with that arrangement.

Dogs that are used to traveling in cars don't actually take up that much space, assuming you stop often enough to keep them from getting frantic. We routinely travel with all three dogs to visit the inlaws (560miles each way) with only a mid-trip stop for gas, with all dogs curled up together on 2/3 of the back seat of a Ford Focus. Our dogs are happy with the arrangement, but that's because they're familiar with car travel and with being lumped together alongside luggage!

The trip went great with my old basket rack on the way home a strapped the empty cooler on top of the buckets so the dogs have more room on the back floor. I modified my old saddle bags from my Tj to fit in the Jk roll bars and was able to use the space between them and the windows to store out foldout chair's. Put the cots on the floor under the dogs.
