passenger dash grab bar

Im planning to mount a passenger grab bar in my 1985 4runner.

If you have a grab bar handy, please share some overall dimensions? I'll investigate the internal dash structure this weekend.

So far, top of my list is the 95-97 fzj80. (might be too long)

Gen1 or 2 montero grab might with as well.

Dodge Raider grab bar looks like a good fit.

Prety sure I remember there not being much behind those dashes so you're going to need some sort of bracing inside or it's just a bar mounted to the plastic. I could be wrong though.

I think you're right. Image scavenged from ttora user *darcy*

It will require at the very least plate bonded to the pad to disperse the load.
I prefer to mount to steel dash structure, but that might become more complicated of a mod that than what its worth to me.

I think the door o' shi+ handles see more load pulling yourself into the 4runner, than what the dash bar will on a trail. Unless the dash bar becomes the new means for people to get in the truck, the plate may be enough.
