So, the point of this outing was more about getting away for a few days then racing. The entire day, we raced a total of 4.8 miles, 1.2 miles per lap session. Total round trip was 950 miles of towing, getting away from the office for 3-1/2 days was priceless. My girlfriend and her daughters went with me for this trip, sure was nice to have the company for the long haul there and back.
The car had no issues, drifted nicely, frankly once it was up to speed 1 or 2 corners in, I just left it 2nd gear, love the torque ot the Toyota 22re. The big surprise to me was how effective left foot braking was at setting the car into nice drifts on the long sweeping corners. I didn't have time to watch the speedo, but each long straight away saw 5200 to 5500 rpms in 2nd. While talking to one of my regular Group2 rally competitors, he was saying the car was throwing the biggest roosts of the day, 30ft plus, pretty sweet. At the end of the day we ended up mid pack of 11 competitors in the rally 2wd group. I'm good with that finish considering the car is not specifically set-up for that kind of handling but for being decent at handling all kinds of on and off road conditions, expedition driving, not racing. Also, I had the GF in for two laps and the youngest, 10 year old for the other two, I'm not into endangering others for my fun.

That Celica is awesome! I have done that event several times, even had the pleasure of instructing the school portion. Funny thing is you learn more from instructing, as you are in the car all day :) Your Celica looks like a ton of fun!! Keep having fun man...... love the rally style!
