PIAA or Lightforce

OK...so it looks as though Lightforce is starting to clean up on the "Lightforce or IPF's" thread. How do they stack up against PIAA?

I am not an owner of any so I am truly neutral and excited that, yet again, I can use the wisodm of others to help me make my decision.

However, I had been looking very closely at the PIAA brand (even the new HID that are $800 / light).

I own PIAA's and have run with people who have Lightforce...they outshine me no problem.
If I could afford it I would switch over to Lightforce straight away.
Sierra Expeditions is having a sale I think or if not email/phone them and see what they can do.

I have 2 sets of PIAA's in the closet, they won't be going on anything I own. Liteforce is a better light.

I tried a set of PIAAs and even compared to the basic IPFs they weren't worth the money in my opinon. The housing is subject to corrosion, they are heavy and the light output isn't special.

Between PIAA and Lightforce the winner is Lightforce.

But I still like IPF for the value for $$ spent. :bigbossHL:

Wise words Pete...

I say Lightforce... I have LightForce and PIAA on my bumper now. Ok 9.5" Vs 5" is apples to oranges, but the light output is night and day difference. Wen Has both Hella's and LightForce, and the winner hands down is her 2 LightForces to her 4 Hella's.

I talked to lightforce earlier this week about the HID conversion kits that have been coming (seemingly forever). So if you go with the standard lights, you can later upgrade to HID. So freaking cool. That way you know you get a goot starter and ballast compared to the eBay stuff.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions on the lights via the contact us page on our site.

We just had a customer call up and say he hit an Elk head on and his LightForce lights survived the impact and kept running perfectly.

Uh hummm, it was a moose, and the impact only broke the the lower mount... Not too shabby, but the lights still worked!

Elk.. Moose.. Either way it is a Big A@@ animal that the vehicle took on! Hopefully the driver did not have the LF lights on at the time of the collision. Talk about "Deer in the headights" expression on the poor animals face!!! :Wow1:  :Wow1:

I'd have to agree with the above: Lightforce. I'm running standard LF on my truck, 6.6" and 9.5" and 2 pair 6.6" HID conversion on my car. They have gotten a lot cheaper over the years I must say, but either way I look at it, it's money well spent. And last time I checked, PIAA/Hella HID weren't cheap either.

I've seen and had (in the past) broken lenses on Hellas as well as PIAAs, but I have yet to break one of those LF filters. Speaking of which - that's another advantage in my book: one light, 3 different filters = 3 different lights.
And my favorite really: I have never had to re-adjust or re-tighten my LF ever since I installed them about 5 years ago.

The only problem I have with LF is the size (and the headache of finding a good spot to fit the size you want), but then again, the shape of the reflector plays a role in how much light you actually get in front of you.
