Alright, my reservations for Pismo are up for sale as of right now. ** SOLD

It's going to be too chaotic for me out there this weekend so im going to Calico instead.

Anyone that wants to head out with us.. we'll be leaving Saturday before noon and coming home on Monday AM whenever we get up and get out of there.

Probably camp in Mule canyon if i can get the GF to go without showers a few nights Planning on running up Doran canyon and possibly back down odessa like always. We'll see. Just looking forward to getting away and using the tent out for the 1st time.

Anyone that wants to go, PM me, email me or call my cellphone 714-504-5337

Take care guys, :victory:

I guess it could be classified as a adventure with all the amatuer drinkers
out ... but i'll be @ Pismo camping and wheeling and exploring Hearst Castle for New Years. We will be staying @ Pismo SB Saturday :camping: night and @ Oceano Dunes :suning: on New Years Eve. Does anyone know of a cool place you could camp on the way up to Pismo from LA? Was thinking about roughing it Friday night. :1888fbbd:
Anyone else gonna be out that way?

How far do you want to be when you first camp?

They only ones beach camping places I know of are Broome state beach camp ground in Oxnard and Emma Woods in Ventura (this only allows self contained vehicle camping, no tents). These are not very far from LA but there are many none beach and near beach camping places all along PCH.

Here are some decent camping places around Santa Barbara.

I dont mind, whatever could cut down a little time on the drive the next day. I'll be leaving Orange County around 5pm if i leave Friday night.

Thanks for the link i'll check it out.

Roof top tent considered self contained?

El Capitan and refugio are nice, they are also popular and fill up often, Refugio can get extremely windy.

Lake Cachuma is nice, then you can get a good breakfast in Solvang:coffee:

Refugio, El Cap and Jalama are special places. (I proposed to my wife at Refugio 20 years ago) and you can’t beat the Jalama burger. Unfortunately I would bet money everything on the coast will be booked solid before 12:00 on Friday.

So I also would recommend Cachuma not because it’s so nice but because you should be able to get in.

If you do end up camping there try to get over to the Nature center/Museum its pretty cool, total run by volunteers etc.

Best,
Matt

Central Coast New Years Expedition lol

Leave Anaheim Noon Friday the 29th.

Arrive at Cold Spring Tavern for lunch.

Camp out @ Cachuma Lake night #1.

Next morning drive to Solvang for breakfast.

After breakfast drive up to Hearst Castle for the grand tour.

After Hearst, drive down to San Luis Obispo and have lunch.

After lunch find our campsite @ Pismo SB campground and camp there for night #2.

Next morning pack up and hit the sand! Set up camp on Oceano Dunes for NEW YEARS!

Might hit West Camino Cielo Trail on the way home.
