Just got it from FedEx today, from Equipt...

It stinks inside... Any ideas how to get the stench out?

aaaaaaH, that is just flavoring!!! Give it a good rinse with water and call it a day. Every Joe in the Army has grown to appreciate the taste. :wings:

It's new... i used baking soda and water in mine. I never get any taste in my water, but i usually reserve the sceptor for shower water since the Zodi pump drops into the opening. I use other cans for cooking and carry bottled water.

:iagree: Fill the can, add some baking soda, let it sit overnight, rinse well. You may need to do this several times at first, and periodically after that, but it will keep your water cans fresh.

Just a quick tip... I use "Efferdent" in my containers to remove stank!! Camelbaks, Nalgene, Camper Fresh Water!!
Just like the Camelbak cleaner but way cheaper! 100 for $2.00

Mine smelled too (strong plastic smell) when I first got mine from Paul, but after I rinsed them a few times and let them air dry, they have been fine ever since.

I love these water cans. Water has no plastic taste either.

I think it's probably just a smell that's there from the factory and having been closed ever since. It should go away after a few rinses.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

I do plan to put a pump on this (thanks for the Zodi tip, even if inadvertantly), so that's what it matters to me. Showers and wash water, I wouldn't care...

Appreciate the response.

The smell is the newly molded plastic offgassing, it'll get better with time.

Efferdent, huh? I'm going to try that in my funky CamelBak bladder!

I've had my two for 2 years or so and they still stink a little. Fortunately the water does not really taste bad.

My only gripe with these is that the top is not really water tight. The vent spout always leaks just a little and all the ones I have looked at have been the same.

try mint listerene, swish it around real good then rinse really well, i used to do this with my camelbacks and canteens when i was in the marines.
