Potential 1st-time Montero buyer - What to look for?

I'm in the process of selling my beloved BMW 540i, and have been trying to learn as much about Monteros since joining this forum. There are a couple in the Galveston/Houston area that I'm looking at. From what I've gathered the Gen3 Monteros are pretty well-built, and my main focus (not really knowing what else to focus on...) is the timing belt/water pump area, and if the 60k mile maintenance cycle has been done.

What else should I look for? If this were an old Saab or BMW I'd know all the secret spots to look for trouble, but I've never really been exposed the the Montero before.

Besides the usual thing you would look on any car such as service records, etc. Drive it, test every electronic, get on the highway and turn the radio off to listen for noises, test brakes and 4x4 definitely. Look at the undercarriage, look for torn cv axle boots, etc. Leaks in the engine, open the radiator if cold, etc. Man just the usual stuff will be enough. The lower the mileage the better.

Oily alternator, cam seal leaks (heads, front and back).
Operational 4wd lights (2h-4h, 4h-2h)
In a place where you have about a mile of road to yourself, 2h-4h, 4h-4hlc. Go a block or three as this all engages and watch the lights. Then stop, select neutral, 4hlc-4llc. Travel a good bit to feel proper engagement. Then stop, neutral, 4llc-4hlc. Drive again. 4hlc-4h-2h, and off you go.
Check if rear heat equipped, look for leaks or rust on the rear coolant pipes.
Expect the rear sub to have a rotten surround. The stereo will not impress audiophiles until it has been addressed.
