we are installing a cb in my friends jk, and can't seem to locate a switched or unswitched power lead. my tj has one of each right off the fuse block. anything like this on the jk? forgive me if this has already been answered, but i'm posting via my phone, and not the easiest way to search. thanks in advance.

Power for communication gear should be run directly to the battery. If you need it switched, then switch it but the source should be direct from the battery.

You can tap into the cigarette lighter or aux power line for CB power. Gary is right that it is best to run communication gear to the battery however a CB isn't that sophisticated of a communication device. If you don't get ground loop noise I don't see any reason to run an aux power line for a CB all the way to the battery. They don't draw enough watts for it to be a concern.

Thanks

Thank you both for the info. We'll probably just run it from the battery. Now I need to see if there is an easy way to get the lead into the cabin. Thanks again.
