Power Trax Lock Right

I am considering using a Power Trax Lock Right in an early CJ-5, Dana 44 with 19 spline axle shafts. Setting aside the concerns regarding the 19 spline 2-piece axles and their inherent limitations, does anyone have experience with the Lock Right, i.e., installation issues, reliability of the unit itself, etc?

I'v run several without issues. Install is very easy.

Only issue i ever experienced is the occasional loud clunk when reengaging. This is very rare in my experience but it will get your attention.

I'm always hearing that theres something wrong with my Jeep when i back into a parking spot by the uneducated in this style locker. (ratcheting)

Ratcheting and lock/unlock noise is to be expected, and I am forewarned on these. Just didn't want to get into a situation where I could not rely on the unit if I installed it.

Cruising around the local fire roads, I have rediscovered just how easy it is to get crossed up with a short wheelbase open diff car. Since I want to stay close to stock build parameters, I am limited on what I can do these days with an older Dana 44. Warn apparently no longer makes a full floater foundation kit for this axle, or I can't find one listed, which would have allowed upgrading to a higher spline count axle and just about any Dana 44 specific locker available. Even one-piece shafts would be a significant upgrade, but the only source I have seen lately is a Currie custom cut shaft = $$$.

So, I thought perhaps a Lock Right might get the job done for a light duty trail rig/desert rat mobile.

Thanks for the input.

I ran them both front and back for a couple years before I upgraded to full Detroits. I never had a single problem with the lockers, minus the noise issues already mentioned. I sold them and they're still being run to this day (hard, on 35's), totally untouched and still reliable.

You might want to consider an Aussie if they build one for your application; they're a little quiter and have a better warranty.
