V8 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser CE, 3X locked, dark emerald green (6M1) color w/ LS2 conversion. Purchased in Sept 2015 w/ 123345 miles. Vin # JT3HJ85J9V0184687. Carfax shows only two owners in the Nor Cal area.
LS2 swap completed by Jonathan Robinson in Marana, AZ (RockJock82 on the iH8MUD forum). Swap completed 7/2016 at 128550 miles, current miles 165477.
This vehicle cannot be registered in CA or states/areas/counties/jurisdictions that require a smog check and/or catalytic converter/s. Registration & local emissions compliance is the buyers responsibility.
Engine & Transmission
LS2 motor sourced from a wrecked 2006 Pontiac GTO w/ 55667 miles. Cylinder heads were removed & the motor inspected. Two exhaust valves, all the valve springs, head bolts & head gaskets were replaced. A rebuilt 4L65e trans was installed at build time. A second rebuilt trans, this time rebuilt to 500hp, was installed at 139077 (9/2017). An additional trans cooler has been installed. A new Advance Adapter transfer case adapter & double cardan driveshaft were installed at build time. A complete PSI LS conversion wiring harness w/ LS computer was installed at build time. Rear driveshaft balanced & U-joints replaced at 165224 miles (06/03/23).
Suspension
2 ½” lift via OME heavy duty springs: OME 868’s on the rear, 850x on the front. New Dobinsons shocks & steering dampener installed at 155014 miles (12/2020).
Armor & Recovery
Full front bumper, twin rear swing out bumper and rock rails from 4X4Labs installed 2017. A Trail Tailor trans & transfer case skid plate was installed at 157700 miles (6/2021). Rebuilt Warn 9.5ti winch installed w/ 80’ of MasterPull Classic blue synthetic winch line in 7/16”/11mm. This line is rated to 21500 lbs.
Wheels & Tires
BFG 285/70R17 KO2’s wrap 17” SCS wheels including spare. Fronts & spare have about 50% tread left, rear’s are new. See photos for scratches on wheels. Last balance & rotation at 165114 miles (05/03/23). Front end alignment also completed at this time.
Cooling & Heating
Brand new Mosley Motors progressive speed radiator installed at 164670 (6/2022). Electric fan is wired into the SwitchPro’s panel with an override for full speed whilst wheeling or for AC service. A replacement GM (AC Delco) water pump installed at 155485 miles (2/2021). Safari snorkel installed at build time. Rear heater has been deleted. OEM heater valve recently installed. New Gates ‘green stripe’ hoses are used for heating lines. A new OEM heater core, not installed & now discontinued by Toyota, will be provided with the sale.
Electrical
Dual battery install via Northstar AGM batteries & Blue Sea components. Engine battery runs engine loads only; all other loads including winch fed off aux battery. Aux battery includes SB120a Anderson connector. Another A SwitchPro’s 8 load panel is installed in the cab and powers an under hood light, the spot & flood lights and the override for the SPAL cooling fan. A fused 6ga wire runs from front to back to power an aux positive bus in the rear PS compartment. This bus powers an Anderson SB50a connector for a 12v fridge hook-up, an SB50a connector located above the rear PS tire (used for air compressor power), a small 450w inverter & a 12v cig lighter. A digital voltmeter monitors voltage. There is also a small switch adjacent that power small LED lights that illuminate the tailgate surface. All interior lights have been changed out to a red LED color excluding the front map light. USB charging ports & cig lighter ports have been installed in the rear of the center console & and in the PS side of the shift console. A Scan Gauge sits on top of the steering wheel. An aftermarket alarm has been added.
Lighting
3 x Rigid spot lights and 2 x Rigid flood light sit at the front of the rack controlled via the SwitchPro’s in the cab. Lights are independently fused & relays used. There is an under hood white LED strip controlled via the SwitchPro’s.
Paint & Rust
Paint is Toyota Dark Emerald Green (6M1) & is in pretty good nick however the clear coat is faded in some places & gone in others. Scratches, gouges, dings, small dents & various rock chips are present. Most of the rear of the roof has been ‘monstalined’ since some of the holes holding the OEM rack had rusted through. The headliner was dropped, a fiberglass patch was applied to the inside, the outside filled & primer’d & then monstalined. Rust is evident on the rear hatch near the lower right corner, see photos. Rust is also evident on the lower edge of the PS front rocker panel, see photos. There is no rust on the DS side rockers.
Glass
All of the window motors have been replaced, the window regulators have been cleaned & serviced & the window runs have been replaced. The front doors have been ‘sound deadened’. The front window is the OEM original with two small chips. The rear wiper & washer have been deleted.
Lubrication
Engine runs on Mobil1 5w-30. Oil & AC Delco filter changes happen every 5K miles; last change at 164550. Rear diff, front diff & transfer case use Amsoil; fluids changed once every year irrespective of mileage.
Brakes & Wheels
Part time kit installed w/ AISIN hubs. 7-pin mod & center diff switch installed. Last complete rear wheel/bearing service & front birf service at 149665 (3/2020). GM Hydroboost system installed at 149707 (4/2020) including Wilwood master cylinder & proportioning valve. New front ‘nicopp’ brake lines were installed. EBC ‘green stuff’ pads & Powerstop rotors also installed. The rear stop light above the rear hatch has been deleted since it shorted out. THE ABS SYSTEM & ALL ITS CONTROLS HAS BEEN REMOVED/DELETED.
Interior
An 8 circuit SwichPro’s switch panel is installed. Twin ABS cupholders with a phone holder is installed. The trans temp is monitored by two gauges; one monitors the pan temp & the other the ‘hot side’ into the trans cooler. An engine temp alarm is set to 220F. A Gentex rear view mirror with direction & outside air temp is mounted to a Wits-End mount. The front seats were recovered at the time of the build with a kit that I think Wits-End was bringing in at the time. The middle & rear row seats have been in storage since the engine swap & look practically new. Sound deadener was installed into the entire cab ‘front to back’ at 146675 (1/2019). All interior lights are red LED with the exception of the front map light. A fire extinguisher is located on the floor in front of the PS seat via a Wits-End mount. Sun roof opens & closes & does not leak. Drain holes have been cleared & cleaned. A/C blows cold !
Audio & Communication
A Pioneer FX-X820BS double din unit w/ Bluetooth phone interface & Sirius is installed with new speakers in all doors. An aux line is present for a rear sub-woofer, not installed, that will be provided with sale. Cobra 75 WX ST CB radio installed w/ a FireStik antenna.
Storage & Roof Rack
A lockable ‘Back Bay Customs’ rear tailgate storage panel has been added in the rear, the interior has been ‘sound deadened’. This was usually where I kept most of my recovery gear plus transporting a firearm when traveling. A Bowfin aluminum rack runs the entire length of the roof.
