One of my coworkers here in Flagstaff Arizona is selling his 98 5spd 4x4 3rz (I think) Tacoma with 180k. He knew I was in the market for a 4x4, so he's willing to hear my offers first. I just bought a 5 spd Trooper for $2,000 with 180k and Its in fantastic shape, but I might not mind the Tacoma if it'll be more reliable, which is my biggest concern. The aftermarkrt for the Trooper is abysmal, so getting cheap upgrades is difficult, but in either case I wouldn't be doing anything too crazy, mild lift, slightly bigger tires and that's about it.

So my question is, what would you want to pay for a 98 Tacoma 4x4 4 cylinder 5spd with all scheduled maintenance from the original owner with 180,000 miles?

Maybe $5000, I suppose. I was just thinking I'd try to get $2000 for my 2000 Explorer, and it is a Toyota after all.

Here in N/W Fl the yota would be about 3500 and the trooper would be about 2k. Ask yourself which one you can get parts for cheapest and almost anywhere. The parts thing is when not if and there are hands down more yota parts in the junkyards here.

Here in CO, a clean one-owner tacoma is like gold. Buy it and drive it for a few years and you can probably sell it for what you paid. Is it an xtracab? Probably worth $5000+ regular cab and $7,000+ xtracab.
