The last time I programmed my radios I was using an XP machine (extra laptop, had it for programming radios and but since got rid of it). Now that I'm trying to program radios with a Win7 machine, I'm having issues. After some digging, it appears that there were counterfit chips/drivers that worked with XP but not with Win7: http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41
I'm wondering if this is the case for me. I tried installing an older version of the driver but it doesn't work and Win7 likes to update it to the latest version.
Does anyone own Yaesu radios in the VX family and program with a Win7 computer? What cable are you using? I can't remember when I bought my cables; maybe 2012/2013.
This one uses an entirely different chipset and the seller is USA based so may be a good option: https://www.amazon.com/Valley-Enterprises®-Yaesu-Programming-VX-170/dp/B002YUJ1JA/ref=cm_wl_huc_item
I'm open to suggestion. I'm using CHIRP, VX7 Commander and VX2 Commander software.
Thanks!
