Project Ambulance

Picked this up a couple days ago. Ambulances have been on my radar for a few years and the price was right.

Runs but doesn't stop, gotta get some brake lines and she'll be good.

Inside is mostly stripped, making it cheaper then most. Needs a lot of work but thats all right.

Any tips for first time diesel or ambulance owners would be appreciated. I'm guessing the light has to be removed? Not even sure if its operational but would likely remove it anyway as it seems to be a good place to put extra gear/tires.

Rear brake lines are notorious for rusting through. I'd go through all the brakes. One of my rear brake drums had worn so thin before I'd bought it one drum cracked in half.

Yeah I was planning on doing em all. Slowly but surely I'll get her done. Spring "brake" is when I plan on fixing those lines.

Damn thats scary about the drum cracking. I'll definitely look em over. Way bigger than any drum I've ever had.

I'm curious as to the weight of this thing. The title says it weights 4900ish and the gvwr says just under 10k. I have a feeling this thing weighs more than 4900lbs but if it doesn't that'll be good for mpg and registration. I can imagine I'd ever have anywhere near 5 tons of gear in it to get me near the 10k mark.

Dang thats alot. Your'e sure a minimod thats pretty stripped out would weigh that much? I guess I'll find out when I hit the scales but I need new tires. Was hoping load E would be enough but might go to load F rating. It has a single axle not a dually.

I'll weigh it in the next month or two once its road worthy! Gotta do brakes and tires first. Waiting to get it registered and insured since MI has the most expensive insurance rates ever.
Found a nice mouse nest in one of the cabinets, gonna need a good cleaning before I spend anymore time in it.
