Pulling door cards: How many screws/plugs, and where are they?

My passenger side power window broke last night...it still makes a noise like the motor is working, but the window doesn't move and can be slid up and down by grabbing the glass with your hands. :(

1) Any tips on where the screws are on the door cards, and which areas I need to be careful so I don't break anything? Never pulled these before.

2) Any idea what might be wrong inside, given that the motor still works but the mechanism seems either no longer attached to my glass, or stripped out?

Thanks! :(

Sounds like the glass just fell off the mechanism, this happened to my parents Toyota Van, cost $300 at the stealership for them just to put the window back on track. If the motor is still working I'm sure there is something that can be done to reattach it?

If I was near you I could help, sounds like an easy fix. The door panels come off pretty easy.

1) remove plastic covers on the arm rests covering and hardware
2) remove all door latch and window regulator trim pieces and remove any hardware revealed under them.
3) Start at the bottom with an interior clip removal tool if you can get one, like a pickle fork. If you can't, I always recommend a fork or a small flat screw driver as a LAST resort. They tend to break easily, but Napa has most brands.
4) After the panel is flapping, it should lift off and the window trim will clear the door lock.

There may be a plastic liner between the panel and the door, so try to remove this with a plastic putty knife and hair dryer to get the goop to release, it will be reusable, so be careful.
5)Window goodies are now accessible to see where the problem is.

Sounds complicated, but it is really very easy, just take your time to not break the clips. If it is stuck somewhere, find out why, don't yank.
