We did a clean up before the event and hauled out around 15 bags of trash, and of course we cleaned up after the event.
When I applied for our group camping permit the tribe did express their concern over what was happening on the East shore. I suggested they let me coordinate with some companies in Reno i.e. Sportsman’s Warehouse, Cabelas, etc to see if we could sponsor clean up's, create designated campsite, install fire pits, and have a "camp host". But they didn't seem interested.
The simplest solution for them was to close the area down to camping.
I may approach them again and ask them to think about doing something similar to the Apache’s Rent-a-Lake program. They could have a group camping area designated by the Pyramid and supply it with fire wood, water and Porta Potties. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to charge $400.00 per day plus permits for the privilege of staying there.
