It was a good day to be at the lake, it was like a mini Baja vacation.

That looks (almost) deserted. Can you overnight on the shore there? Great pics. Green with envy.

Uh...that'd be Corona. Unless you were thinking you would rather have been at Carona Italy or Carona Switzerland...:hehe: :hehe:

Given the choice of Carona Switzerland or having a Corona at Pyramid, I'd take Switzerland even on the bad days.

Great pics though.

You need a tribal permit to camp, or even spend the day. It' son a reservation.

Camping is permitted on the West shore of the lake but is no longer permitted on the East shore due to vandalism and trash issues.

Bummer: I was not aware of that. However it was rather appalling to see all the garbage and litter that was present at the CG area during your PyramidLakeFest there last year Martyn.

I can understand the plea of the Paiutes in this regard.

Sad.

We did a clean up before the event and hauled out around 15 bags of trash, and of course we cleaned up after the event.

When I applied for our group camping permit the tribe did express their concern over what was happening on the East shore. I suggested they let me coordinate with some companies in Reno i.e. Sportsman’s Warehouse, Cabelas, etc to see if we could sponsor clean up's, create designated campsite, install fire pits, and have a "camp host". But they didn't seem interested.

The simplest solution for them was to close the area down to camping.

I may approach them again and ask them to think about doing something similar to the Apache’s Rent-a-Lake program. They could have a group camping area designated by the Pyramid and supply it with fire wood, water and Porta Potties. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to charge $400.00 per day plus permits for the privilege of staying there.

Yes...sorry I did not mean to infer that the garbage came from our group. And ditto above: This is a great idea and might eliminate the abuse of such a wonderful place.
