Question about diamond plate

I am looking for fenders and found a pair of diamond plated fenders that look and fit awesome. Only problem is they arent black.................is this material paintable????????

Ummm.... What material? Steel? Aluminum?

Most anything can be painted with the right stuff and preparation

If its aluminum then self etching primer or Epoxy primer. Steel I would epoxy primer. You will need a real breathing regulator with the epoxy stuff.

If it's polished aluminum, you can scuff it with a brillo, use a self etching primer, and paint it.

I have the aluminum step tread rockers and corners on my CJ, once the polished look didn't look so good, I did the above, and painted them gloss black.

The paint has held up great.

Definately prep it correctly and use the self etching primer. I painted directly over diamond tread with duplicolor spray on bed liner. It held up for a couple years then started peeling off, even with a top coat of single stage acrylic over it.

If it's the really shiney stuff, I'd have it sand blasted first to give whatever paint you use some bite.
