Question about front differential, gen 3

I am wondering if the front differential driveshaft should always turn when in 2 wheel drive? When I had the front end raised, and spun the tires, the differential and driveshaft spin too. 4 wheel drive seems to work fine and I think all the indicator lights in the gauge cluster are working. Thanks in advance for any input.

I believe with the engine off, the front differential CAD engages being there is no vacuum, and therefore the differential acts like it is in 4wd and the driveshaft would spin. The transfer case however would remain disengaged (2wd mode

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
The axles are engaged full time, even in 2wd only 1 side disconnects. It allows it to free soin easier in turns but it would be great if they could be fit with manual hubs like the Gen 2.
