Question for those with RTT on 4-Runner.

After quite a bit of research, I'm ready to pull the trigger on an Autohome RTT (Air Top medium) that will mount on my 2008 4-Runner.

Had planned to add a 3rd Thule crossbar to support the RTT. The guy at the shop, where I plan to buy the RTT, recommended an aftermarket rack (Front Runner) to better support the RTT.

So my question: how do you guys have your RTTs mounted? Am I cool going with three Thule bars vs the aftermarket rack?

Thanks,

Nate

I have my Maggiolina on a BajaRack. I would not recommend the Thule setup as it increases your CoG and wind noise.

Mine is mounted to two Yakima bars. It works, doesn't seem like it will come off, and there is no roof flex. CoG is raised, but the Yakima Load Warriors feature a quick release option so I can remove the bar with the tent attached. With two people I can go from tented to tentless in less than 2 minutes.

I just googled your tent, you have a totally different set up than me. I would ask the manufacture what their minimum recommended bar spread is. That is a long tent. But I wouldn't imagine you'd need an extra cross bar.
