Question on Warn M8000 Clutch handle indexing.

Since the TJM bumper mount the winch feet forward, the clutch lever ends up on the back side of the winch. The cutout for access isn't very big - I doubt I'll be able to reach thru to turn it. It would accessible from under the bumper, but can foresee that being a very, very messy proposition in most situations a winch is required...

So the question is:

Can the clutch handle be indexed to any position needed?

From the schematics it appears there is no timing mechanism on the gear set.

Thanks

M8000 Clocking

I think you are talking about "clocking" the winch release lever. I had to do this so my M8000 would work with my ARB bumper.

1. It's easy, just set the winch on one end on the floor and stabilize it with your knees while you remove the allen screws on the lever side of the winch cylinder end cap.

2. Lift the end cap until the gears are disengaged (be very careful to not pull the planetary gears too far apart!) and rotate until the lever is where you need it.

3. Then, slide the planetary gears back into alignment, ensure the gasket is aligned, and re-do all the allen screws. Voila!

Then, BEFORE you mount it up do a function check of the lever engage/disengage (freespool/brake) cycle, and ensure the lever is truly where you want it before bolting her up to your bumper.
