My friend is looking to buy a 1994 Isuzu Trooper.

Is there anything specific for this year/model he should know?
It's a 5 speed manual with 179000 miles.

Do they have some sort of lockers?

Thanks for any info!

Lots of things he should know! The best source around is Planetisuzoo.com. He should find more than enough information there to satisfy his needs.

Expeditions West used one for a while and gave it good marks -

No they don't come with lockers - but there are a couple available - I have the ARB air lockers on mine.

Basic parts availability is good - Napa, Autozone, etc... all have the basics. The problem comes when you try to mod it out... the aftermarket is very slim - though there are a few places that can satisfy most of your needs, wants, and desires.

Under the hood look for the vehicle plaque, if it shows the G-80 option it has the rear LSD/locker. Other wise, a great truck and a good deal these days. Very capable and solid off-roader.

1998-2002 have a slightly different suspension and the bigger 3.5L engine.

5-speed manuals are few and far between, but 179,000 is getting up there. I wouldn't pay too much for that vehicle, but that's just me.

The G80 code is pretty important, it is a great limited slip diff.
