Tress,
I installed the QAII last year after getting a deal from a guy who was selling the compressor, 2.5 gallon tank and all the mounting hoses & couplers for $180.00 new in the box. He even delivered it to me! I was looking for a OBA option at the time, and while there are better solutions out there...for the money it works for me.
I am not sure of the form-factor of the vehicle that you are installing it in so my info will only relate to a Jeep Wrangler install.

I did a lot of research on the "best" location and mounting options. I have some very specific requirements/problems.....I have a 99 TJ and require the use of my back seat (kids) and my limited rear storage area has a top access Tuffy Box. This takes up the rear area of my Jeep.....under the hood was the next spot that I looked at but on the right side I have a snorkel and dual battery tray that takes up most of the free space. On the left (drivers side) in the ideal spot I have a dedicated ARB compressor for my lockers. Also my research showed that the QAII does not like the high heat engine compartment.

Well, there is a "dead space" located to the rear of my roll bar in the back between the tub and roll bar that I decided to use as the mounting location. Next thing was a location for the 2.5 gallon air tank. All of my space issues remained and I decided to mount it underneath the floorboard on the drivers side beneath the rear passengers feet. (This is opposite the muffler). My Jeep sits on 35" tires and 6" Long Arm SJ Rock Ready Lift so I have some clearance.

I fabbed a mounting bracket and welded it to the roll bar for the compressor and drilled a hole and ran the tubing and wires down and along my frame. The tubing runs over to the 2.5 gallon tank and the wires to my SPod & Source for power. From the tank I ran air lines to couplers to the front and rear of the Jeep. On the front I fabbed a mounting bracket and it sits next to my stinger bar and at the rear I drilled a hole in the tub and ran the hose straight down and to the tank. I also have an pressure gauge in the cab in the SPod that lets me know what the pressure is and an electric shutoff once the tank gets to 120lbs of pressure.

At the end of the day, I like everything about the install and would not change anything. I do some pretty serious wheeling in it and have not had any issues with the tank under the floorboard.

Here are some pic of the install. Let me know if you want to see anything else.

Pardon the tape, it was to cover the ports until I connected the fittings...it is dirty under there!

Thanks a lot for the info and pics, sweet setup. The compressor came to my door last night and of course i dove right in to check it out and i may have a problem. I ordered it from Tellico 4x4 and they suggested i get this VIair 25' hose with guage for it so i fgured it should work and ordered it all at the same time. Well when i went to connect the female end to the compressor it really doesnt hold tight. Its weird, it doesnt seem like a normal compressor fitting that locks into place and you have to pull back the colar to get it off, if you grab around the colar and pull even with out moving the colar it pulls right off. It may just a be a conveniece feature becasue when i pull on the hose a few inches behind the colar it doesnt really pull off like it does when i grab the actual colar. Hope this all makes sense, has anyone else any experience with trying to use a Viiar hose with this compressor. This is the first vehicle compressor i have ever bought and am not sure how it should work, just know how it usually works on other compressors i have used. Oh and how critical is it to use a tank with this compressor? Thanks again!!

Tress,

The fitting that came on mine was a Brass Male Connector that will mate up with a 2" Quick Connect Coupler. You can find these at a lot stores, if the ones you have are not working buy some new ones and replace the one in the compressor. You will need some teflon tape to wrap the threads. I removed mine to install a hose directly to my compressor for my tank install. You could do it with the fittings listed above but I already had the install kit that came with my purchase.
For a Tank Install, you will need the Push-In Hose Fitting that attaches the hose to the compressor.....if so, you should have 3/8" OD Hose X 1/4" Push-In Hose Fittings.
It will look something like this....

The hose simply slides in and the fitting will self clamp around the hose. The Sun Performance hose is a stiff plastic hose.

The use of the air tank is not mandatory but it will speed up your tire refills. I have not taken the time to do a watch test, but other folks out there have.

Sun Performance has all of the items that yo will need for your install on their web page but it is costly. I have a mix of their stuff and locally procured items in my install. http://www.sunperformance.com/html/products/air_accessories.html

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Over priced.

That compressor in my link is the same as a Viair with a cheesy body for $50 at costco and Pepboys and it is every bit as fast as the quick air. The port is standard 1/4-20 so you can use off the shelf air fittings.

I happened to pick up two for $20 that are also a rebage from a distributor that had them returned because the got dropped on their tail and cracked the switch cover. If you are in GA and care to donate a pint of blood in March I'm sure you can pick up a couple for the same price. http://www.gbr4wd.com/ for details as to where.

Ouch! Glad you found an option that worked out better for you. By chance can you use that as a back-up air compressor for your ARB lockers compressor?

Sure. http://www2.northerntool.com/product-1/42428.htm You can find them cheaper but that will cycle the compressor as needed. Add a small tank and it will run air tools for short bursts just like a QAII. http://www.antonline.com/p_FHG12J55XBP-NX_334776.htm

The QAII is a good product. I have used my buddies often. Just that $50 jobbie is some pretty good bang for the buck.

Nice set up BTW

That Master Flow is a great unit for the price. I've had one for 3 years-still working great and fills all 4 35s in 20 minutes or so. It's so good, that I bought a couple of extras to stash in other vehicles. I have a buddy with a Viair that was close to $300 and it's at least as good. I've seen the Master Flow unit at Costco recently and it's a really good buy. It's just about the only piece of Made in China stuff I would recommend, other than the impact sockets at Harbor Freight.
