I figured it's time to get to making a thread about our little bus build. It's a 2004 gmc 3500 savana with a Quigley conversion. We are currently doing the mods needed to head out on the road for an undetermined amount of time.

Our plans are to have no plans, other then hit as many national and state parks here in the US prior to shipping over to England.

I will post progress photos as we go. Here's what she looks like today. IMG_0257.jpg

Me too , this thing should be Epic !! So many ways to go. I personally think a little MadMax . Put bars across windows , kind of apocalyptic!! And the intierior a nice comfortable well designed overland layout. It probably has dual doors in rear ??? I could see two touring bikes in the back :).
Good luck I envy you on this one !!! Can't wait !!!

Definitely cut a nice wedge out of the body from back wheels to back edge around window height. Massivly improves your departure angle. As typical for most Expo rigs, just above this wedge ends up good spot to put permanent bed.

Welcome to the site Hwerwego. Thanks for posting a pic of your fine rig. We are all curious to see what you do with that bus. Are you running a diesel? It should be interesting to see what you do in the way of upgades and mods. Cheers, Chilli..:)

No it's a 6.0 vortec. Opted for petrol due to ease of parts and fuel sources through out the globe.

There's no way to remove a wedge out of the body due to layout of the frame and body.

New pics coming soon.

Consider getting second opinions on that. Many of folk have bobbed chassis of trucks. Granted it would take some quality fabrication for both bobbing and body changes buttt... bet it could be done and be well worth the money unless your staying on flat roads which makes this more of a heavy duty motorhome than an off-road Expo camper..... which there is nothing wrong with. Choose how you want to use it and build/re-fab accordingly. Get Her Done

Bobbing it would not be useful for us, as it would take away much needed gear storage. We will
Be doing a fair amount of off-road and overland with it. Just takes careful route planning and sensible driving to avoid obstacles that would create any major issues. Given the overall weight we are aware there will be limits to where we can and can not go. 140000 lbs does not make for a nibble trail horse.

We are going to be living out of it for the unforeseen future. We listed our house for sale and have sold everything we owned.
