Pioneer MVH-X560BT: This is a mechless audio receiver, meaning NO CD mechanism. I truly cannot remember the last time I had used my CD player... it has been many many years.
Uniden 980SSB: This is the first, is that good?, CB that has surface mounted chip board. Traditional versions were thru-hole... more costly to assemble.
This is also not the traditional super sized CB.... it is slightly smaller in width and height... but not depth.
Even with the smaller size it is still LARGER than the DIN standard of 2x7 inches.
This is running 7 1/4 W x 2 1/4 H x 7 1/2 D so trimming is required.
The real cool thing is that it has a BUILT IN SWR meter to tune in the antenna!
So i bought both of these items from Amazon.
$97 for the Pioneer
$130 for the Uniden
Tools required are 10 mm socket, philips head driver, Dremel with cut-off wheel and router bit.
It basically took about 12 hrs... most was for the trimming, fitting, trimming fitting of the factory radio bezel. To make sure it would fit properly.
So here are the photos.
Below is my original setup.
Alpine CDA-9853 (bought in 2005).
Cobra 18 WX-ST II (bought about 2007?)
Another thing I changed was the removal of my PROCLIP mount... the weld nut that allows the clip to pivot broke free.
Now it does not tighten at all... so I bought a RAM Mount after seeing someone mounting it on their grab-handle.
Below is the install by the person i copied.

My RAM Spider holder.... errr..... "X-GRIP"
Since my Pioneer is BT... I mounted the supplied mic next to my WINK 5 panel mirror.
My final version of trimming the crap out of the bezel.
Front...
Rear....
Final fit... CB still sticks out about 1-inch.
I opted not to install the Pioneer bezel or use the slide in metal sleeve it comes with.... it just would not fit with the CB.
Now the real fun part of programing, SWRing everything... need a beer and read the manual more. Hope to get that done this afternoon.
So far I was able to pair it up via BT on my phone... music goes thru nicely... phone works too.
The USB is a charger too... so I routed the cable to my RAM mount to be able to charge. play music without draining the phone's battery!
If I had to do anything different is to spend even more money to get the TUFFY center console that allows the CB to be mounted inside it.
Or make a pig tail like ******** Foster mentioned on my original thread on TTORA.
That maybe a future project.
