radio speakers

Possibly a silly question but......

If I plug in an external speaker can I remove the onboard speaker?
The radio in question is a Dragon 29mhz

why bother, once plugged in the internal is disconnected.

The round screw heads were getting in the way of my McGuyver tactics (very thin glue tape). I've since removed the speaker and the screws and done my relocation job. Hopefull the last time I'm moving my radios. The inside of my cab looks like it's been in a shootout with all the holes from my frequent bright ideas.

That is the reason I am so slow to make modifications in the cab. I would hate to drill a hole that some day would need filling with one of those As-Seen-On-TV vinyl fabric repair kits or fillers.
