Range Rover off road test

Always great to watch the Sports offroad; extremely capable vehicle especially given how much fun they are to drive around town and on the highway. Might not be the best platform for overland travel but we absolutely love ours. The misadventure 4wd group has some great videos of that black RRS going through some pretty rugged stuff.

There are some aussies down under that wheel their RRS trucks pretty hard. Overall great vehicles.

The Overland Journal LR4 is doing exceptionally well for their purposes. The new stuff seems to be well suited for overlanding, but definitely not rock crawling.

Depends what you define as rock crawling, a Discovery isn't all that good at that either. But then neither is a Defender 90 by tube buggy standards. With the ability to fit a 33 mud terrain on an LR4 and install air lockers you have at least matched the off road prowess of "most" modified Land Rovers while also exponentially increasing comfort, drivability, build quality, and reliability.

I wouldn't consider anything short of a buggy a rock crawler.

Yes. There are plenty of trails with rocks on them, and most of the time these rocks almost make the trail paved. Is it smooth? No. But they aren't going to contact the body unless you do something very stupid. Every once in a while you'll have a big rock but with careful navigation, you can get around/over it no problem.

Most real rock crawling trails you can't get a stock/mildly built vehicle up to the first obstacle. You just hit your front bumper and then you are done.
