Real time battery help

Ok so here's what I have. My current battery in my 05 Double Cab Tundra (with Tow Package) is a Group 27R, 5 1/5 years old, and is on it's last leg. The Sears DieHard replacement is the Platinum P-5- Group 35. The CCR is more but the Reserve capacity is much less. Reserve old 165min. The DieHard is 100min.

My question is should I be concerned about the decrease in reserve capacity or not? I use an inverter on occasion with the truck running but not too much with the truck off.

Thanks in advance for your help,

B.

If you rarely use the inverter with the truck off, then it is no big deal.

If you have not yet pruchased the battery, find the biggest DHP you can stuff in there for even higher cranking amps and higher reserve capacity and amp hours.

Similar sized AGMs might list marginally fewer amp hours than their Flooded counterparts, but the faster recharging characteristics and higher cranking amps will make them better performers in all but the deepest of deep cycle applications.

Thanks for the help. It's fairly rare that I do use it with the truck off, generally I shut it off. I was looking for the DieHard biggest battery but they all have the terminals reversed. Not a problem on the negative side but the pos cable won't reach.

I've seen simple cable extenders posted on this forum before. You just need to decide whether ~20% more capacity and cranking amps are really necessary and worthwhile in your application

The word from our battery dealer, the Sears Platinum battery is a Odyssey battery. So it is a good unit.

It probably wouldn't cost much to just get a longer pos cable then you'd have the flexibilty of choosing any battery.

Yup, I called Enersys about a year and a half ago and they verified the Diehard Platinums are rebadged Odyssey's.
