Expedition Leader
Well the rear bumper is almost finished. I spend the weekend in Vancouver WA working on my bumper with a buddie.
We dident get as far as planed but it was a tall order to fill.
here is what i want but the price tag is a littl stiff and the meteral is a little thin.
So what I have is a 2x4 1/4 wall bumper with a 2x2 1/4 wall rack.
My trip started out great on time to beat traffic one hick up ill post about in fireside.
So at Jerrys house we get to planing trying to figure out what all we need to get in the am. Then its off to the BAR or I mean restruand for dinner :wings:. Jerry being single and always on the prowl we head 45 minuets to tigard to meet some chick. Saturday 3 am we get home not my plan but hay Its time with the boy's.
Saturday 8 am a little hung over we start. First on the agenda a latch I some how totaly spaced this. We figure where in the big city i can find some thing to work. After lots of wasted time we find some thing that will work. Then off to round up some outher small thing forgetting half of what we needed. Back in the (shop) His&his moms town house grauge to work .Things are going well lay out went good cuting took for ever about 1:30 we relise that we forgot all kinds of things and where hungry. off to clackmass sterle for 1x1 120 wall and 11/2 x11/2 120 wall. Then home depo for paint and some bolts a new blade for the bandsaw.
Back for round 2 5or so satureday . The saw all repaird we figure its time to cut the hole for the hinge so i can clean for welding and get it preped. This Sears Drill press sucks it took 2 house to cut 2 13/8 holes in 1/4 plate we had to repair teh drill press 3 times only the second use of this tool. Finalu the hole is tere. HE finsihes up some welds I clean. We cut the plate to mount the tire to and all is well. When we get a knock on the door. ITs the housing enforcement guy aparently you cant make noise after 8 its 8:15 75 dollar fine and out to drink agin.
Sunday morning I remounted the bumper and then the carrier for fitment. It all works great. Time to mock up the hi lift and weld up a mount. Then start cutting all the mettel for the rack and gas can holders. Opps the band saw breaks a nother blade. So off to home depo one more time. Then jerry and i hed to Sportsman wherehouse. This takes about 4 hous tent shoping. Then home to finish up and desid well finish the gear rack and can mounts a nother time.
