Red Cone, 8/9/08...

For those interested, I've posted the pics and narrative of our trip to Red Cone on 08/09 at CO4x4.org.

NOTE: My pics start at post #11

For those who've never 'wheeled in Colorado, Red Cone is one of the more famous (infamous?) trails in the Centennial State. In terms of scenery it's second to none in the state. Red Cone is famous for its rather extreme descent (actually, 3 of them) but as most local 'wheelers will confirm, it looks scarier than it actually is.

Anyway, just thought the folks here might appreciate it.

Nice shots. I've never done that pass but have heard how steep that one section is. Most photos however don't make it look too steep but this one of yours makes it look like a bit of a clencher.

I enjoy the pics from Red Cone every year. I really need to go run that road someday. The mountain goat photos are very cool too. :)

Actually, I can't take credit for that one. My set of pictures are the second set.

That is a photo of the final descent, which is actually a bit steeper than the first descent, due to some washout.
However, I can confirm that yes, it really IS that steep! But having a manual transmission really helps!

It's the first desceent, though, with its 1000' drop offs on either side, that gets people's attention:

(and this one IS one of mine - taken after I was "safely" down off the first descent.) :D

Hey Martin, thanks for organizing that. I still have to post up the video of you going down the hill.

Oh, man, I'd love to see that! Can you email it? How big is the file?
