REINFORCED TRANSFER CASE SKID PLATES: Here's How I did Mine

I got around to reinforcing a new transfer case skid plate today to replace the one I destroyed a couple weeks ago. Pretty straight forward, I just trimmed some 3/4" angle stock to fit and welded it on. This one isn't bending. When I picked up another to replace mine, I grabbed a couple extras. I went ahead and reinforced them too. If you need one I have them for sale HERE!

There is a slight bend in the skid plate, so I slit the angle and shaped it to fit.

Cleaned up and ready to weld.

Penetration? Yep!

I didn't bother prepping it since it's under the rig. Just painted it and installed it.

Plenty of clearance.

Just picked up three more to reinforce.

You can also cut a piece of 1/8" plate to fit the bottom side to make it thicker. Just drill small holes in the plate and tack weld it to the thin steel on the factory skid. You could also do the factory front skid the same way.

Definitely, but it would be more expensive and time consuming.
