Relay/Switch and Fusebox

Hi,
I think what I want to do is ok, but before I burn down my truck I thought I should check. This past weekend I installed an sPod in my 100-series. I was planning to use one of the switches to power my fridge. I liked the idea of being able to switch the power on or off from up front. But it got me thinking that maybe what I should do is actually wire that switch to a bluesea fusebox and then wire some additional power ports along the fridge coming off that fusebox. That way I have a set of power outlets that I can turn off and on as needed from the switch panel (none of my power outlets currently run with the engine off).

My thinking is that I could run the fusebox off a 30-amp fuse on the sPod. As long as I didn't exceed 30 amps total drawn off the fusebox (I can't envision ever drawing more than maybe 4 or 5 amps maximum), then it should be fine right?

Also, could I then run a connector for my portable solar panel coming off of that fusebox so that when the switch is on, the solar (if connected) is also charging the battery?

Thanks.

Why would you want to switch off your fridge? It's often more desirable to hardwire your fridge, so it can't be accidentally left off. But what you are proposing should work fine, but theoretically, you will still need a fuse between the relay and the blue sea box fuse box.

The sPod has both a breaker on the positive battery cable and a fuse associated with each relay. I have no idea which side of the relay it's on though.

I like the idea of being able to switch the power to the fridge on/off simply because I leave the fridge in my truck pretty much all of the time. I find it's pretty handy to have when out running errands. However, there are plenty of times when my truck sits in my driveway for a week and I'd prefer to just be able to switch the power to the fridge off when I park it.

I agree with this. A switch is too easy to turn off for the fridge. I currently just have a set of anderson connectors that I plug/unplug when needed. With a switch, all it would take is an accidental bump from myself or the misses and all of our food is gone on a long trip (and yet it would be my fault lol).
