Replacement 3.4 5vz-fe

I have been tossing ideas around of what to do for my next truck and the thought of a $32-35,000 next gen Taco seems a bit spendy. Yes I could buy used but would still be looking at $26-29,000 for a few year old TRD.

So if I was going to keep my very well maintained 2000 Tacoma (that I bought new), who is the go to must have engine builder for the 3.4 5vz-fe? I wouldn't want a used engine, I already have one. Much of this truck has upgraded or repaired with factory Toyota parts and wouldn't take a ton of money to continue to use this truck.

Input please......

Toyotatruckengine.com offers fully rebuilt 5vze engines for around $2400 or $3000 with new heads. Yes, even used Tacomas are stupid money, and if the rest of your truck is solid, then it seems like a good thing to do. When the 3.slow gives out on my 4Runner, this is the direction I will go.

No point in rebuilding it if it still runs. Now if you wanna do it just because than how much of a rebuild do you want? All new internals ?

There's a group down in chehalis or Vancouver that builds race motors with the 3.4 and 22r. Think there name is NW team yota and there website is yotashop.com. When I was out at Ft Lewis I drove down and checked them out, pretty legit place.

What about the 2.8 cummins is releasing in 2017?

As a replacement engine? Where do you get one of those? I drove the new Canyon with the mini Duramax... really liked it. But there is no way I can justify $40k on a new truck.

My 3.4 only has 238k on it (haha), and I just did a valve adjustment on it - and from the internal condition, I fully expect another 150k+ out of this engine!!
