Replacing AGM battery after 1 year and 10 months of 2 year warranty...

I guess I should count myself very lucky that after much arguing with the vendor/shop ahe downright rude distributor who denied any and all liabilility an unhelpful and rather non-commital importer. The brand is a Chinese manufacturer called "Absorbed Power", the original purchase price was AU$ 355, which wasn't cheap compared with a Optima Yellowtop D34 at AU$399 (unavailable) a Deka marine/RV Itimidator AU$305 (undeliverable to me) or an Odyssey AU$535 (inexplicably expensive.

Because it had a 2 year FOC replacement warranty I chose the 75 AH (an ambitious, hopeful guesstimate by the manufacturer).......OK, so because the don't import these any longer and those they do don't fit I'm getting a full cash refund (Yayyy!!!! for me....yipeee do).......should I get a Optima??...currently still AU$399 and 3 year FOC replacement. It'll be a D34 size, that's the max that'll fit easily and I'll probably get the Blue Marine version (same price and warranty) makes fitting terminals easier/quicker.

I did follow the forums a couple of years ago about problems with Optimas......is that all finished and done with???

My main use of the battery is in a ZJ 4.0 Grand Cherokee Limitedand apart from ordinary use it is parked for 1-2-3 days at a time and runninning a laptop througha step up transformer ( car's 12V up tp 19V ).

I'd appreciate some advice and comment.

I count myself VERY lucky to be getting cash back or any sort of warranty from these guys it's just the good name and reputation of the retailer here (BIAS Marine Discounts -stores and mail order, internet sales etc ) that's seen that happen....the local middleman in town here (Darwin) is downright outrageous and illegal!

Done the Deal

Thedeal's been done......a marine Optima D34M, and they gave it to me for AU$360!!!......no previous mentions ever before of an "even better price when you buy"......The Odyssey wasn't in stock anyway and it takes ages to ship most stuff up here anyway.

Jp magazine just ran an issue where they field tested an Odyssey, an Optima, a Northstrar (???) and Sears Die Hards Gold and Platinum......all were pretty good (see: jpmagazine.com/battery_bashing_extras ) and the test continues.
