Revisiting Places of the Past...A Trip to Utah's Canyon Country

Well, the Greatest Snow on Earth is not falling from the skies...Another dry year! With no powder fix in the near future; we decided to head south to Utah's Canyon Country. Spring in the desert is a combination of sun, snow, rain, and the unpleasant event--wind! The original plan was to head to Robber's Roost. The Roost has some of the best canyons in my opinion, but it does not offer any protection if camping up high. Wind was in the forecast. So...We thought we would head to some canyons that we thought would be fun and offer a fair bit of protection.

Our our way, we discussed where to go. We have been fortunate to visit many of Utah's jewels so we always try to find some place new. Getting lazy and tired we decided to rivisit some slot canyons we have visited numerous times before. We concluded our daughter, Lilly, would have a blast...We would too! It was amazing how many times we said, "I don't remember this." I guess a sign that we are getting old...

We awoke to some nice views from camp. Our Springbar tent was a new purchase for us...It exceeded our expectation.

Our our way to canyon country...The "roads" in Utah are bliss!

Lilly entered a crack in the Earth's crust...She seemed to enjoy it!

Yes, our dog Ginger had a nice ride through the slots...Enjoying the views!

Seeing the Earth's crust is awe-inspiring!

We enjoyed lunch...Peace, solitude, and listening to the ravens overhead!

Making our way back to camp...

We had a baseball game to attend to! Lilly is swinging for the bluffs...

Louise enjoyed the new Helton shower that Kurt, Cruiseroutfitters, installed...It's nice!!!

Now, we were on our way to follow a lead on a fixer-upper ranch...We didn't see a soul! Not a human or anything else living for that matter...

We found it! Home sweet home...I think with a little work, well a lot of work...it has potential!

The following day, we made our way north. It was time to go...Time to return to the real world! Bummer...

We hadn't been here in years...Times have changed. The last time were there, the road lead right up to the cabin. Now, pit toilet, parking lot, informational sign, etc. Nice to see our tax dollars going to protecting a few of these treasures.

All good things come to an end...Lilly and I enjoying the final smells of the desert air.

Payment...The end...Fill up and roll...Until next time...

Lesson Learned: I need to revisit some of my places of the past...It's nice to "remember" them in a new way!

Nice pictures and amazing place. We are parting in a trip to Utah tomorrow (3/23) for a week (kid's spring vacations). Our idea for this trip is keep us in the west side visiting some parks and finish our trip in Salt Lake City before return home.
Do you have any suggestion what to visit and what not? Any input will be appreciated.
We have plans to go to the Canyon Country area in a future trip.

Regards.

Sure...
A couple of questions...
How far do you like to be "out there"?
Driving a Tundra, right?
Camping?
Do guys like to explore on foot, hike?
