yes

Yes, Bart, Kip and Tim are standup guys. They're common bond is Flyfishing, Rovers and Beer.

They always have some great trucks. I stop by there once a month when Im in town for my Army Reserve duty. Theyve got a killer LR3 winch bumper design.

Deal with confidence.

they are great guys to spend some time with. i used to stop by every few months and hang out there for a fews hours. they'll talk trucks or flyfishing or whatever else you want while they hang around running their business and will let you test drive whatever you want. however, i think a lot of their trucks are overpriced. just remember, they ARE cars salesmen and are trying to make money. also some of their defenders are of questionable origins and model year... buyer be warned.

They are a great group of guys, and they are getting ready to ship the second truck that I have purchased from them in the last few years! Both experiences have gone well, and they have been fantastic to work with.

For a engineering major, your quick "Michaels"..Yup, we sell trucks, hence the website, fence, gravel, building, utilities, beer storage, and beer. However, I am personally not aware of attempting to sell you.. Anything... I do account conversations with you, that I now, I discount as squat. The RMR tire cover that I gave to you, gratis, which ended as give away-on a forum.

Your continual onging rants to seemingly out us "car salesman" only reinforces that we feel alright with what we do..We sell trucks.

By my account, the only "sales" transaction with you has been your "ghost" rock sliders, that YOU, were going to build and sell..Oh, and the the bomb, County Classic that you drove up and unloaded on us..Yeah, I was the one that shuttled you home.

I do look forward to continue this conversation with you, in person, at our new lot..Check the for website for the new address. Regards.....Bart-The guy who drinks beer, sells trucks, and casts a long rod.

yes bart, i'm just out to "get" you continually. if by continually you mean one time before over two years ago when i said i thought your trek truck was overpriced. i simply think that some defenders your sell aren't the year you declare them to be, a thought based upon many personal conversations with you on your lot...when you told me that you were selling a couple 90s defenders titled as trucks from the 70s and 80s. i'm sorry, but that's just not something i agree with.

obviously, i'm not entitled to have my own opinion without being immaturely bashed on a personal level from a business, so i'm sorry, but i do not plan on stopping by your new lot anytime soon.

vin swaps

dont know why folks get so up tight on vin swaps. the practice has been around a very long time with just about every known vehicle.

look at any full restoration done by ECR. essentially the same thing. the salvage / rebuild industry does it on a daily basis.

to me, as long as we're not swapping vin no.s to hide theft vehicles, I dont see a problem with it. I had a conversation with an NICB investigator four years ago, and he too agreed with me.

no different than 2wd to 4wd or v6 to v8 conversions.

just a big pile of rolling metal taking up space in the driveway at the end of the day.

Depends on the state the vehicle gets registered in. It's kinda a big deal from a legal stand point because the VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER is the vehicle's identity. A USDM Defender has been crash tested and DOT approved. I'm not sure about the differences between US & Overseas models, but typically US variants have reflectors, 5mph bumpers, and crossbeams in the doors. Taking a non-DOT approved, not crash tested, vehicle and performing a VIN swap is kind of like someone from another country taking my identity and living in the US as me, right?

It seems like a much bigger deal when it comes to selling a vehicle, because unless it's fully disclosed it can be seen as misrepresentation.

my understanding of the biggest problem is if you get into a severe car crash and your insurance company finds out that it's basically a european truck NOT tested for or by the DOT and other gov't regulation programs necessary or older than the 25 year law, then they will NOT cover your illegal truck or any damages caused to or BY the truck ( personal injury and lawsuits resulting from accident)

but hey, if someone buys a truck that's been tampered with, then SURELY they must have known that already , right? so why should they care about not having insurance on an illegal vehicle.

I had a LONG talk with my insurance agent about this before I pulled the trigger on the particular truck I have coming from RMR this time around, and after he did some digging, documentation, and made a few phone calls his final answer was that as long as the truck is here in the states legally (ie. not stolen), passes a physical DOT inspection (which my truck has), and is issued legal title here in the US than it is fully insurable and covered just like any other vehicle here in the United States. The comparison was made that at that point it was really no different than a "kit car", and in all probability a heck of a lot safer! (You should see some of the sand rails and dune buggies that are on the street around here in the summer!:Wow1:)

On top of all of that, the insurance companies would go back and find out who originally imported the vehicle into the US and registered it first. They would determine wether or not the vehicle was registered properly and was in fact here legally. In speaking with RMR and some of their customers that have purchased pre-'85 vehicles and had accidents there was no issue with the insurance companies covering the loss-even the one incidence where the customer's 130 was completely totaled...

pre-85 meets the 25 year import law so an actual pre-85 meets all the criteria set forth by the gov't. the problem would be a post-86 truck with the vin swapped to be older than it's actual model year... a.k.a. the 96 defender(which was never imported by landrover) they had registered as a 76ish series. pretty sure that's not legal in any sense...
