Looking at picking up a 2.5 gen. $3k no rust except one section. Rocker panel driver's side. https://www.mitsubishiautopartsdirect.com/oem-parts/mitsubishi-rocker-panel-mr376779.

Could not find anything with search. Never done something like this before. Have no idea. Prob best I can get in midwest with all the rust here. Only 124k miles.

Thoughts?

Buy a southern truck. I also live in the salt belt and have looked at a lot of local Gen 2 and Gen 2.5 trucks. From my observations, Gen 2.5 frames rust thru to damaging levels much quicker than Gen 2 trucks. Buy a truck from Tx, NM, Az, Cali etc...

I’m in the Midwest, I filled my rockers with foam 3 years ago.....you won’t win the war against rust but you can slow it down. I paint mine every year with a rattle can and forget about it. It doesn’t stop me from doing whatever I want to do with my truck. I put the foam in while I still had most of the rocker still there, looks like your photos the owner let it go too long. A body shop told me if I brought them rockers from a donor, with a lot of meat on them still, they could fix mine. I never did it.....don’t worry about rust anywhere else on the truck. All the brackets and welds, supports etc, are all over built. My underbody is rusty....everything is flaking but there is a lot of metal left. Everything is serviceable on mine. It may take me longer to get stuff loose, but I get it done. I also paint stuff whenever I’m under there....couple rattle cans per year gloss black. As far as the frame comment above, I can only say mine is still rock solid zero concerns.
