Flipped the mounting hardware and add some 3/4 inch rubber tubbing to bridge the gap and provide the needed friction. Looks better and provides some negligible benefits. Dropped it down about an inch and sits about flush with the factory bars.

Made a trip to the hardware store and made and extension for my Aqua-Tainer. Some 3/4 inch fittings and some vinyl tubbing and a ball valve. Simply unscrew when not in use. Should provide some convenience.

Probably all been done before but thought I should contribute.

Any noticeable drop on mpg with the rack?

Thanks, nothing noticeable but most of my driving has been in town since flipping the mounts. It doesn't look as awkward up there anymore. The mounts are somewhat a PITA to get tightened which also makes the thing harder to steal I imagine. I put a towel on the paint to prevent unnecessary damage to the paint as you will have to jockey the hardware a bit.
