Roof protection?

I load a lot of items on the top of the camper shell in between the side rails and crossbars when I go on trips. Does anyone have any solutions for added protection to the roof while at the same time adding some nonslip/nonskid aspects?

Being as it is fiberglass, I am personally not sure. You could glue a rubber mat down? Or how about long plastic strips glued down like they are on my forester.

If you're worried about the crossbars or rails hitting the fiberglass and rubbing or breaking it, then you could try bolting some sort of padding to the roof. I'd recommend using round-baler belting. You can get it at most farm stores that supply tractor parts. Some sell it in pre-cut rolls as splicing pieces, others sell it by the foot. Its about 1/8" thick and 4 inches wide, though you can get 12" wide if you prefer. Its tough stuff and should do what you need.

I have three non skid strips up there now but don't care for it much. I may look into the belting
