I have no projects and time on my hands and if someone is interested in having a rack built I was thinking of offering my service. I am not a professional builder and would ask for a donation for my time and welding material and you would help and paint the finish. I have built 5 racks total for my rigs with 2 still on them others sold, I build my racks out of 1" round tube. If this sounds like something that interest you let me know and I can send some pics of the rack I have built.

I have been wanting to custom build my own for some time now (I have plans all in my head), but I lack a bender and welder (I do know how to weld). I got permission to use a bender at my old college, however I am still nervous about embarking on this alone. I am in Orange county, but if you would lend me a bender, welder, and your exeperience, I am sure I could cruise down a few weekends to work this out.

Please PM me with how much you would charge.

Thanks!!!

I'm set on the roof-rack front, but I've been thinking of using 1" tube to build a two-piece ladder system to work on the back end of the "dutch" doors of my van. The top half of the door swings up like a hatch, the lower door swings out. Tricky.

I'm in San Diego, so if you run out of roof-rack takers and want to tackle something different, send me a PM. I have a horizontal bandsaw, a drill press, and air tools which should make fitting the tubes easy, but haven't got a working welder right now. I can lay a sloppy bead (or a nice one, with a little refresh practice) and I sling a mean rattle can.
